Shangri La Lodge - Independent Living with Services

Small town living at its best!  Shangri La Lodge is an intimate, friendly and well maintained lodge with centrally situated amenity areas including dining and recreation / craft room, library,  puzzle areas, patio and lounges.   Our large spacious grounds are home to local wildlife and walking paths.  Coupled with our growing community, quality family doctors and hospital, the community continues to welcome local and new seniors!

The Shangri-La Lodge provides room and board to well & independent seniors.   The following services are included in the base rent. 

• Three Homecooked meals per day; which includes soup and sandwich options 

• Salad Bar; which includes 3 variety salads, fresh fruit, fresh assorted vegetables

• In between meal snacks 

• Weekly housekeeping & linen change service  

• Activity Program 

• 24 hour Staffing – 7 days per week

To be eligible for lodge living you must fit the following criteria:

• 65 years of age or older
• Canadian Citizen or landed immigrant
• Functionally independent OR Functionally independent with assistance of community based services
  • Functional independence is defined as physically, mentally and emotionally able to look after their own personal needs and be able to interact socially with other residents and includes:
    • Maintaining appropriate personal hygiene
    • Getting from their room to the Dining Room for meals
    • Ability to maintain their room in a tidy condition
    • Living amicably with fellow residents and staff
    • Willingness to follow residential agreement
• Under Age Applicants - Special Circumstances
  • If a situation arises where a vacant unit exists, and there are no interested eligible applicants 65 and over to fill the vacancy, the Foundation may lower the age eligibility
  • All other eligibility criteria remain in effect
• Priority is given to residents of Brazeau County, Drayton Valley and Village of Breton
• Any applicants currently listed on the Government of Alberta’s high-risk offender list will be ineligible for housing at any Brazeau Foundation facility.

Monthly fees are established according to the square footage of the lodge room and include meals, weekly housekeeping, furnishings and limited storage.  

- Single Occupancy Alberta Seniors Benefit Recipient: $1200 - $1353

- Non-Recipient: $1484 - $1638

Double Occupancy: 

- Both Alberta Seniors Recipient: $2167 

- 1 Alberta Seniors Benefit Recipient & 1 Non-Recipient: $2400

- Both Non-Recipients: $2684

Added Services:

Personal Laundry: $40/month

Parking: $15/month

Scooter Garage: $10/month

Resident safety is our priority. We consider individual resident safety requirements and needs in determining placement within our units.  Safety and security are key components for our residents. 

All staff must follow the Protection for Persons in Care Act.

We monitor our staff and processes to ensure resident safety. Abuse or neglect in any way is not tolerated.
